Irongate supports local charity Umbrella!

This year we are proud to announce that we have become a corporate sponsor of local charity Umbrella. Based in Mackworth in Derby, Umbrella is a fantastic place that enables disabled children, young people and young adults to realise their full potential.

Umbrella supports any family with a disabled child aged 0 to 30, currently supporting over 550 children and young people (and their families) with disabilities, helping them to build confidence and their independence. They do this by:

  • Empowering parents and carers, supporting them in their care of their disabled child/young person.
  • Providing exciting, stimulating activities for children and young people such as; arts and crafts, play sessions, youth groups & community events. This encourages the    development of skills, whilst having fun, giving disabled young people opportunities that non-disabled children take for granted.

Offering one-to-one support for young Adults, either at the centre or at home.

While the centre encourages children and young people with disabilities to make friends, it also enables parents and families to come together and get the peer support they need. Families are also supported through information, guidance and much-needed respite.

We recently visited Umbrella House to have a look around the facilities, and to hear more about the important service which they provide.  It was wonderful to meet some of the team and hear about the challenges they face in providing the car and services they do, the support they need, and some of the wonderful success stories they have.  The facilities they have in place have been carefully designed and created to enable different areas, activities and environments to meet the varying needs of the centres users, but all come at significant price, with many of the areas requiring specialist equipment, maintenance and set up, to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for its many users.  Some pieces of equipment costing anything between £3,000 and £9,000 just to purchase.  It is clear why Umbrella needs our support, and why this is such an important service to so many people living in the Midlands who need this essential service and centre. It really does change lives.

Umbrella aim to raise at least £50,000 each year in order to transform and support the lives of disabled children, young adults and their families.

We look forward to collaborating with Umbrella over the course of the year and contributing towards their fundraising efforts!

Irongate is going LIVE and you’re invited!

Discover the difference a day at Irongate LIVE makes.

Forget hours trawling the internet to find what you need or dealing with a dozen different suppliers, we’re making the procurement of all of your indirect business supplies and services really simple.

On Thursday 5 October, we are transforming Pride Park Stadium in Derby into one of the biggest procurement events in the UK.

Irongate LIVE 2017 promises to be a unique event with five interactive zones dedicated to showing the latest product innovations, services and procurement solutions that will make a real difference to your workplace. Where else can you find all of this under one roof?

Whether you’re a procurement manager, office manager, facilities manager, marketing manager, buyer or a business owner, we are extending an open invitation for you to join us in the stadium’s Toyota and Pedigree Suites between 9.30am and 4pm (last entry at 2:30pm).

“We speak to companies everyday who can’t find what they need, or are frustrated by how much time they spend dealing with different suppliers and processing different invoices,” says Adam Noble, Managing Director at Irongate. “Irongate LIVE is an opportunity for anyone involved in buying products and services for their business to speak to our team of experts, plus over 50 leading brands to find out how we can make their jobs easier and reduce the amount their business spends on these items.

“It’s a relaxed atmosphere with loads of stuff going on all day. We hosted a similar event in 2015 which was fantastic, but this year it’s our 40th anniversary and we’re making it even bigger and better. We’ve got over 50 suppliers coming along with some great new products and there’s loads of competitions and prizes to get involved with, including a Crystal Maze style cash cube game.”

We will be delighted to see you there whether you are an existing customer or a prospective client who is interested in finding out what savings can be made through choosing Irongate as your business services provider.

Visitors registering to attend the show before 25 August will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 shopping vouchers.

Visit www.irongategroup.co.uk/live/ for lots more information and to pre-register.

A new era in water saving technology!

Save money, save water, save the world!

At Irongate, we are proud to introduce the new Drenched Volumiser. The Drenched Volumiser is a simple device which fits onto your tap. The device then turns your water into an ultra-fine molecular mist which warms when in contact with skin and air, which means no need to use hot water. Saving you water, energy and money as a result.

The Drenched Volumiser reduces the amount of water used when hand washing by more than 98%, meaning that users can wash their hands in just three tablespoons of water – a fraction of what is normally used, which not only saves you money in water bills, but is much better for the environment.

As the water shortage in many parts of the world is on-going, the potential of this small device, is game-changing.

The launch of this innovative product, comes after the Drenched team won the technical enterprise award in the national Pitch@Palace final in late 2016, where the device was viewed by Her Majesty the Queen and was also trialled on one of her taps at the palace.

The inventor of Drenched, Yorkshirman Wes Sugden-Brook who is a mechanical engineer, says that he was inspired to create the device when he was gardening one afternoon with his wife and two children.

When Wes went to clean his children’s dirty hands with a hosepipe, he turned the nozzle to mist and when the dirt disappeared, he had a lightbulb moment.

When he realised how quickly and effectively the dirt was removed from their hands, something clicked in his head about surface area and physics. From there he took it back to basics; de-engineered and made the product as simple as possible, his children were even part of the design process too!

Irongate launches InOne service for schools.

We are pleased to have launched a new single source procurement service for the education sector to help make schools’ purchasing easier. InOne with Irongate helps schools to save significant time and money by allowing them to source everything they need from one supplier.

Nick Cash has joined Irongate to head up the Education division.

“InOne transforms the way schools buy their business essentials, there’s a huge opportunity for schools to make a significant saving,” explains Nick. “By combining all six of our specialist sub divisions, schools can access one online portal to order everything they need including stationery and furniture.

“When customers order a diverse range of products from a number of different suppliers, it costs them more than they think. InOne simplifies the ordering process and schools can take control of their purchasing.”

The new service allows schools to find everything in one place – from exercise books, stationery and art and craft materials, to practical items such as furniture, office equipment and cleaning and catering supplies. In June 2017, we will be launching an 800-page catalogue specialising in school supplies and equipment.

Irongate’s had a makeover!

With the big 4-0 approaching, Irongate Group is preparing for a celebratory year in 2017. To mark the first phase of this exciting milestone, we have refreshed our brand identity and launched InOne, a revolutionary new procurement solution aimed at saving companies significant time and money when buying their business supplies and services.

“InOne combines all of Irongate’s specialist sub-divisions and industry experts to provide businesses with a powerful single source package for all of their business supplies, with one supplier, one point of contact, one delivery and one invoice all accessible via one online ordering system,” explains Managing Director Adam Noble.

“By streamlining their supplier base, product range and spend with one trusted supplier, procurement managers can easily control expenditure across multiple product categories, multiple departments and multiple sites. This significantly reduces their internal workloads to increase efficiency and reduce the total cost of their procurement.”

“Often, managing the provision of supplies and services for their business can cause hassle and headaches for procurement departments,” continues Adam. “So they’re looking for reliable suppliers who can offer expert advice and who can provide total transparency in what they are spending across their business; that’s exactly what InOne with Irongate offers.”

Adam adds: “We’ve continued to grow at an unprecedented rate but customer focus always has been and always will be at the heart of the Irongate package.

“Over the years, we’ve expanded the number of products we offer to make it even easier for customers to get what they need from one supplier — whether it be office supplies, workwear, furniture, print, cleaning supplies or promotional merchandise.

“InOne is the centralisation of all these products and services into a simple service that takes away extra time and costs associated with managing multiple supplier relationships.”

The new branding features the strapline ‘we’re in business’ to represent Irongate’s place in both the business supplies industry and at the heart of our customer’s businesses working as an extension of their team.

A new website has also been launched, offering an improved user experience for customers and the new InOne online ordering portal to help procurement departments order what they need quickly and efficiently.

Quirky illustrations, friendly language and vibrant imagery have been used to show off Irongate’s best assets – that we’re here to help, that we’re a lovely friendly bunch and we offer everything you need for your business in one place.”

Irongate supports world record attempt in Derby

We were pleased to be able to support the Brilliant Derby event on 20 September. Hundreds of children gathered at the Market Place in Derby to try and break the world record for the most random acts of kindness in a single day. The happiness revolution was a great success with kids handing out flowers and chocolates to passers-by. We supported the event by donating 450 printed t-shirts for the children. We are awaiting to hear to see if they managed to break the record!

Irongate launches the Keurig

Coffee to keep your team full of beans…

Did you know we drink 70 million cups of coffee every day in the UK? Sixty percent of UK employees like to drink coffee at work but nearly a third leave the workplace during the day just to buy a good-quality cup of coffee. So they’re taking time out of their day to travel to coffee shops, and spending a fortune over the course of the year.

The reason? They simply don’t like the quality of instant coffee.

To counteract this trend and help businesses to create happier workplaces, Irongate Group has launched Keurig®, the brewing system that gives your workforce the quality coffee brands they love, without having to leave work to get them.

Keurig has taken the US market by storm, becoming the nation’s number one single serve coffee maker. Its UK launch aims to bring better coffee to the British workforce.

Facility Supplies Expert Pam Wakefield said: “The new Keurig coffee machine is another part of our campaign to improve the wellbeing of workplaces across Derby and the Midlands. We’ve been trying it out ourselves at the Irongate offices and we really love it.

“One of our customers has an American lady working for them and she was really excited when she heard that we were offering Keurig as part of our range.”

As an authorised distributor, Irongate offers both models of the Keurig brewing machine and the full range  of K-Cup® beverage pods including big-name brands like Starbucks, Green Mountain and the Great British favourite Twinings.

It also provides ongoing service and maintenance, as well as disposable supplies like stirrers, cups and coffee condiments which are ideal for customers and clients to self-serve in meeting rooms. The Keurig coffee machine’s sleek design means it can easily fit into reception and waiting areas too, making a great first impression for visitors.

Pam continues: “The Keurig quality-coffee initiative is not only about cost and time savings; it’s also about rewarding employees for their hard work. We all know that simple rewards can be a great boost for teams and that means a happier workforce with better staff relationships and increased productivity too.”
